Frequently asked questions
What does IMG for AI do?
It optimizes screenshots and images for AI tools — reducing resolution and file size so they use far less context, while keeping text and UI readable.
Which image formats are supported?
PNG, JPEG, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP and WebP as input. Output is WebP, with a PNG fallback.
Why does an image sometimes say "Already optimal"?
If optimizing wouldn't make the file any smaller, IMG for AI keeps your original untouched — it never makes a file larger than it started.
The tray doesn't appear when I drag. What can I do?
Enable Input Monitoring when prompted (or in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring) and relaunch the app. Without it, drag an image to the screen edge to reveal the tray.
Does it upload my images?
No. Everything is processed locally on your Mac, and the app has no network access at all.
Which AI tools does it work with?
Any tool you can drag or paste an image into — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, and more.
What are the system requirements?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
